HPMC is derived from natural fine cotton fluff or wood pulp. It is a cellulose ether multi-purpose additive that can be used as a thickener, dispersant, emulsifier and film-forming agent.

It is used as a film coating in pharmaceutical tablets, a binder in tablets, a water retention agent and thickener in construction applications to prevent cracking of cement mortar, and a thickening and suspension agent in water-based coatings to prevent stratification.

It is also commonly used in daily chemical detergents as a lubricating, thickening and protective colloid.

The re-dispersible latex powder is mostly used in the construction industry to increase the strength of cement, increase the flexibility of putty and prevent cracking.
It has multiple uses.
