Overview

Dry powder mortar, also known as dry-mixed mortar, mortar dry powder, or dry-bagged powder, is a granular or powdered pre-mixed construction material made by proportionally mixing dried and sieved aggregates (such as quartz sand), inorganic binding materials (such as cement), and additives (such as polymers).

The water-retaining cellulose ether can effectively lock the moisture in the mortar, preventing it from evaporating too quickly, ensuring that the cement and other cementitious materials have sufficient time for hydration, thereby enhancing the bonding strength between the mortar and the substrate, and reducing the need for pre-wetting the base layer before construction. Its water-retaining property is affected by viscosity, addition amount and temperature. The higher the viscosity or the larger the addition amount, the more significant the water-retaining effect.
